Herbs vs. Prescription Drugs
Herbs have been around for thousands of years before prescription drugs were even used, and today over 50% of prescription drugs are derived from herbs. When I was 17 years old, I studied with my grandma who was an herbalist. She never went to doctors or took traditional medicine. You name a malady and she had an herb for it. She taught me that you use senna tea for regularity, and chamomile tea for calmness from stress and to sleep well, and many more. I learned which herbs were toxic and which ones were safe. I also collected many herbal books by different authors to learn more on my own.Digitalis is derived from the foxglove plant and prescribed by doctors to strengthen the heart and regulate its beat and it is extremely poisonous. If someone was going to take it themselves for their heart, they would not know how much to take and it could be dangerous. A person who has studied herbs knows which ones are safe and which ones are poisonous and which ones you do not mix with others. That is why anyone who takes herbs should read up on them or consult an accredited herbalist, as you need to be informed how to take herbs safely.
